There’s No Place Like Home

January 2021

Throughout its esteemed 37-year history, the Desert Highlands golf course has received many awards and accolades.

Many “best of” course rankings from reputable publications and media outlets tout Desert Highlands among the top-3 layouts in Arizona and easily in the top-100 in the nation.

The latest honor bestowed to our Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course comes from Golfweek, which unveiled its Ultimate Guide to Golf Course Living and Great Escapes for 2021. Inside the issue, Golfweek ranks the country’s top 200 residential golf courses.

In these rankings, Desert Highlands finished tied for 54th alongside three others – The Ford Plantation in Georgia, Briggs Ranch in Texas and the Vineyards Course at The Cliffs at Keowee in South Carolina. A year ago in these rankings, Desert Highlands was tied for 67th with the Nicklaus Course at Colleton River in South Carolina and Quintero in nearby Peoria.

The rise in Golfweek Top-200 Residential Course rankings could be attributed to several things, but it skyrockets Desert Highlands into another stratosphere of elite golf courses. Hovering around Desert Highlands in the 2021 rankings include two Palm Springs-area layouts, the Mountain Course at Vintage Club (T52nd) and El Dorado (T60th).

Among Arizona layouts, The Estancia ranked No. 2 overall, while The Canyon Course at Forest Highlands was tied for 24th, The Rim was 33rd, Silverleaf finished tied for 65th and Quintero tied for 67th. Other Arizona courses in the top-100 included the Meadow Course at Forest Highlands (T71), Stone Canyon (76), Pine Canyon Club (77), the Saguaro/Tortolita layout at Golf Club at Dove Mountain (83), Wickenburg Ranch (T90), Troon Country Club and Flagstaff Ranch (both T97), and Mirabel Club (T100).
