Top 3 Fall Activities to Do in North Scottsdale

October 2020

One thing is for sure: Autumn in Arizona is rolling in, and it’s gorgeous! With cooler temperatures and clear blue skies, it’s enough to make you want to spend all your time outdoors. That’s why we’ve put together this year’s top fall activities to do in the North Scottsdale area and Desert Highlands. From hiking and biking impressive trails to more relaxing activities inside our community, you’re sure to find plenty of ways to enjoy this beautiful fall weather.

Check out the top three socially distant fall activities we’ve rounded up below!

1. Hiking & Biking in Scottsdale

The expansive trails and wide open spaces of Arizona make the area a sought-after spot for avid hikers. Head to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve to explore the five different trailheads leading to over 146 miles of trails! Hike or bike your heart out while taking in pristine views of the Sonoran Desert. One of the trails in particular, the Brown Ranch Trailhead, is a very popular spot for fall hiking. If you’re looking for something more leisurely, Pinnacle Peak Trail makes for a fantastic picnic spot, with peak views of Pinnacle Peak all around you. You’ll want to have your camera ready.

In recent months, our Fitness Director at Desert Highlands has been leading socially distanced group hikes along Pinnacle Peak Trail and Brown Ranch Trailhead. The hikes are always a hit with members! It’s a great way to get out and enjoy the fresh air while maintaining social connections with friends and loved ones.

2. Desert Golf at its Finest

We couldn’t discuss safe, socially distant activities without mentioning golf, could we? During the pandemic, the sport has picked up even more popularity because of its spacious, outdoor venues. At Desert Highlands, our Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, ranked one of the top desert courses by Golf Digest, is a truly impressive and unique experience that members can play again and again. We even have a professionally designed 18-hole putting course for you to get a few practice swings in! Meet up with other members of our desert golf community for a friendly round of golf this fall.

3. Relaxing Activities & Amenities at DH

There are plenty of ways to relax while enjoying the great outdoors at Desert Highlands this season. Our dog park, with furniture safely spread out, offers a beautiful place to walk around the lake with your furry friends or catch up with other members. If you want to get your blood pumping, we offer stretching classes and dynamic warmups at the Racquet Club to get you warmed up before a rousing game of tennis or pickleball. Members can also enjoy swimming laps in the pool, leisurely walking paths through the community, or bike riding to the Fitness Center and back.

No matter what you choose to do this fall, there are endless possibilities awaiting at Desert Highlands.
