History

In 1981, Lyle Anderson sought out Jack Nicklaus to design the course he visualized in the high desert north of Scottsdale, Arizona.  The Golden Bear agreed and in 1983, The Lyle Anderson Company made history when it created Desert Highlands as the first private residential community built around the nucleus of a country club.  It gave new meaning to the word "community" and was the prototype for all such developments that followed.  Desert Highlands would become one of the first upscale residential golf communities in Scottsdale with Mr. Anderson himself selling the first 75 properties!

With Desert Highlands still in its infancy, Lyle Anderson brought sudden international fame to the community with the inaugural Skins Game.  Players and viewers alike were so taken with the competition and beauty of the venue that they came back to Desert Highlands for an encore the following year.

In 1994, twelve years after the community opened in Scottsdale, Desert Highlands was successfully turned over to its Membership.  With 560 home sites across 850 acres, Desert Highlands has maintained a sterling reputation for luxury desert living.
